This training will prepare individuals to complete a visual screening inspection (VSI) of Department-owned SCMs. Participants will learn how inspections fit into the Department’s SCM maintenance program. Information is provided on the different types of SCMs that may be encountered in the field, including how each type functions, how to recognize problems, and common maintenance activities. The VSI process is explained and each aspect is covered in detail: planning and preparing for the inspection; conducting the inspection; documenting observations using standard forms; and submitting documentation. Training includes a combination of classroom lectures and exercises as well as a mock field inspection. Field-appropriate attire, safety vests and hard hats are required for the mock inspection. |
